Apparatus

Engine 1

Engine 1 is a 1986 Pierce that until 2008 served the Department as its first out engine.  It has a 1000 GPM Waterous Pump and a 1000 gallon tank.  It now serves as the second out truck and functions as a mutual aid unit as well.  It carries EMT-B level equipment and AED.  It is scheduled for replacement in 2016.

Tryon Engine 2

Engine 2

Engine 2 is a 2000 Pierce on an Freightliner chassis with 4 wheel drive capability.  It has a 1500 GPM pump and 750 gallon tank capacity.  It is used not only as a brush fire unit thanks to its duel booster reels, but with its 4 wheel drive features it serves the Department in areas of rough terrain.  It also carries EMT-B level equipment.


Engine 3

Engine 3 is a 2008 Pierce Contender that replaced our 1969 Ward LaFrance engine.  It comes equipped with a 1500 GPM pump and 1000 gallon tank.  Engine 3 has a Will-Burt light tower and carries a compliment of Hurst rescue tools including spreader, cutter, and rams.  It carries EMT-B level equipment, a Zoll AED, and part of the department's heavy rescue equipment.

Tryon Tanker 1

Tanker 1

Tanker 1 is a 1993 Pierce on a Freightliner chassis.  It has a 1000 GPM pump and 1000 gallon tank.  Many areas in Polk County are not covered well by hydrants and thus Tanker 1 responds not only in the outlying areas of Tryon's district, but mutual aid areas as well.


Service 1

Service 1 is a 2004 Chevrolet C3500 with rescue body.  It carries the majority of all equipment assigned to the department's rescue responsibilities, in addition to housing the 6000 PSI cascade system.  It houses all of the department's medical drugs, EMT-B level equipment, Zoll AED, suction unit, and the majority of the department's heavy rescue equipment.

Tryon TAC 1

TAC 1

TAC 1 is Tryon's 2006 Ford F-350 4x4 with skid unit which serves as a brush truck and medical response unit.  It carries EMT-B level equipment and a Zoll AED.

Tryon TAC 2

TAC 2

TAC 2 is a 2010 Polaris 6x6 with skid/medical unit built for Tryon Fire Department by Kimtek Corporation.  It was purchased with a 2010 grant from the NC Office of State Fire Marshal and is used not only for wildfire suppression but also to access the numerous horse trails and greenways so predominant in the district.  It is also used for transporting personnel around large scale festivals such as the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival.


TAC 3

TAC 3 is a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4.  This command vehicle was purchased on a 2011 grant from the Office of State Fire Marshal.  It carries EMT-B equipment, a Zoll AED, and is the medical response unit for the department.

Utility 1

Utility 1 is a 2016 Polaris ATV acquired through an OSFM grant.  It is used for various purposes where larger apparatus aren't readily usable - such as the annual Blue Ridge BBQ and Music Festival and the Blockhouse Steeplechase. 

Chief 1

Chief 1 is a 2015 Ford Explorer 4WD and serves as the Fire Chief's vehicle. 
Tryon Trailer 1

Trailer 1

Trailer 1 is the department's special operations trailer.  It houses incident command equipment, rehabilitation equipment, and some of the department's more specialized rescue equipment.

Trailer 2

Trailer 2 is a 14 foot trailer used to haul Tryon's ATVs to various scenes.
